I had a read tonight of the article in Classic Car entitled "Engines that moved us", with the topic being TVR's AJP8. It had some interesting facts in it, with an interview with Melling himself, and Im sure would certainly be of interest to those folk thinking of putting a cerbera book together. I've seen quite a few write-ups on the old ajp now, but there was a few facts in this one that I hadnt heard of. Most interesting to me was Melling talking about the key aspects of the engine that in his mind made it so successful. Most of them I knew about, but one which I hadnt heard of was his belief that the 75 degree v, along with the unusual firing order that this creates, will generate off-beat vibrations that will help the car gain traction. To be fair, its actually the third reason Ive heard now for why they went for a 75 degree angle, but its always interesting when you get these kinds of facts from the people at the heart of the project.

Anyone else seen this article yet?

Judging by how easy it is to spin the Cerbera wheels I don't think it works.

Sounds a bit like Mr Melling emulating the actor Michael Gambon who is know to fabricate stories for the reporters he has to deal with when opening in a new film/play.

As it happens, in his interview Melling described how bikers tended not to like the v4 engines because the periodic torque interuption makes them unsettled putting power down in the corners, but if, like in the cerbera, you can make this torque interuption staggered, then you can use it to generate more traction.

Thing is, I have to agree with the previous comment- cerberas arent really known for launching well, so I have my doubts as to how well it works in practise.

There was also more mention of the Melling Hellcat, with a stated launch date of "soon". So, I guess after missing every other planned release date they've finally given up on trying to set one.
