Greetings experts.

I want to call upon your knowledge after turning up nothing during searches.

I've got an early long tail S2. My friend, the bar steward, has just bought himself a new 111R. Now I don't really care much for all that extra weight and unreliable toyota engine wink (HA! - Please no flaming!) However I do hanker after the lovely lining he's got on the inside of his soft top.

I suspect it significantly reduces noise but it seems to adds an air of comfort when the rain's beating down on you.

Does anyone know if you can obtain the lining and retrofit it to a long tail roof. I fully imaging this is possible after looking closely at both roofs side by side, but can't dig up anything anywhere. I don't want to buy a new short roof and take the lining off it!

Any ideas? Any help is appreciated, cheers fellas.

Buy a short roof and fit that full stop? You'll then have an easier to fit roof, with lining. Don't think it takes too much work to fit it, think it's a case of a roll bar cover and a few other little items, don't quote me on that though.

They don't sell the lining seperatley. I made enquiries and it's not a part made by Lotus & not available as a seperate order (you have to order an entire new softtop).

I just ended up buying a new touring top with lining built in from ebay for around 400 quid. It is nice & does cut back on the noise.

Best bet for you is as others have said, get a conversion to short roof & buy a new softtop with lining built in.

Thanks chaps.

Not really what i wanted to hear, but thanks anyway!

I have thought about converting to short roof but i bet the cover for the rollover hoop to make the change isnt cheap, added to which the cost of a new short soft top. I'll cost up this option.

I suppose I could get a second hand short roof and take the lining out and swap it over as the cheapest alternative. Cheaper is stealing the lining from my friends idea but i'm sure he'd notice.
