Being that I'm quiet at work at the moment (which is always bad for the wallet) and the 460 should be run in soon(ish), my thoughts turn to induction.

The previous owner (Paul Evans - see earlier threads) had got the mechancial side of things sorted (4.6l bottom end, 4.0HC pocketed pistons, blueprinted, lightened, balanced, ultra-big-valve heads, 218 hybrid cam, Optimax chip) but the induction/injection stuff seems to be stock.

Which gives me two routes to pursue/blow cash on.

1) Go for enlarged manifold/trumpets/plenum & airflow meter a la ACT

2) Go for a carb setup - 500 Weber or quad Dellorto's with a JE manifold (needed to clear the bonnet).

Does anyone have any comments/suggestions as to which way to go? I'd obviously like to squeeze as much power out of the lump as possible whilst still retaining good road driving characteristics.

It really depends on what you're going to use the car for, as ultimately you'll get the most power from an quad carb/ throttle body set-up than you will with the Rover based induction system. However with carbs there's always a good chance of the fuelling not being right somewhere in the rev-range and so lack of torque / driveability then becomes an issue. The best solution is use an aftermarket injection system and 4 independent throttle bodies. This allows you to get the best power with no fuelling compromise and you'll also be able to map the sparks as well which will again increase part throttle torque / driveability. Unfortunatly this is also the most expensive way to go ( manifold 200 quid, New ECU 600 quid, 4 throttle bodies 200 each, mapping it all etc etc). This is why most people either stick to carbs or modify the existing injection system. It really boils down to how much power do you want? Bear in mind that what you've got already should give you 300 ish Bhp with a rover based induction system and then you're looking at the limit of the gearbox and halfshafts etc etc.
Still what a decision to have to make eh?

Thanks Matt. Good advice there.

I'll be speaking to ACT/V8 Developments/RPi for their advice too. I'll let you know what their recommendations are.
