Getting another paraffin tank delivered next week and filling up with fuel.
40% of our electricity generating fuel comes from Russia and the predictions are that even a new cold war can't result in "restrictions" of supply as Russia needs the income from fuel sales.

Well who says so? MillibandMillibandMilliband

China and India are swallowing raw materials and fuel wholesale these days so I'm sure they'd appreciate some extra supplies.

My gravity oil fed AGA gives a significant degree of independence from the utilities companies so long as I have paraffin and I have a fairly hefty portable jenny for absolutely essential short term use. A good selection of paraffin cooking stoves and lamps eveloving from the need to cope with frequent power cuts in a rural area puts me in a reasonably safe position so I wonder if the time has come to "market" some of my spares?

My paranoia knows no bounds

P.S. I've just come back from a food shopping expedition and I can't believe how much prices have increased in the last week

wasnt it ford that fixed a nuclear reactor to the back of one of their cars in the 50's?? surely if they can do that then the scope is endless for magimix sized reactors in our kitchens?!

A wood-burning stove and a forest on your doorstep is the way to go.

Or a nuclear-powered Aga.

I already have a good supply of siren suits and tinned goods and I'm hunting around now for a dehydrated water supplier.

I did remember seeing this once on TV, it never had the reactor but it was called the Nucleon, it was fitted to the back of it. Imagine a rear end shunt yikes

If russia started selling to china instead of the uk they wouldnt lose any income, rather they would see demand increase, therefore they would have more money coming in.

And if they cut off supply to the west, they could cripple us, and emerge as a greater power.

If true, why have they not done this already?

Yeah it never made it into production because of handling issues.

With the reactor being so far out beyond the back axle it was very prone to fission-tailing when applying the power....

Because nobody would trade with such a country, and they'd long be crippled themselves before anyone else was.

Not sure what side of the aargument you're taking there? They will be more powerful or they won't and know it?
