Current prices of new Elises?
Discussion
I'm sure this is discussed for other brands of car, but I couldn't find anything on the Elise.
How has the 'credit crunch' affected discounts on brand new Elises, are dealers prepared to offer significant discounts to get a sale or is the specialist car market barely affected?
Anybody here recently bought a new car and would like to comment?
Thanks

Think it will depend on the model you are looking at. I would suggest you choose your model, pay your money, and go drive it.
The Lotus works in 2 ways during the credit crunch, a) Its cheap to run b) Its the best anti depressent you can buy!
Stop talking discounts and buy one !

I'm working on it, it's purely because of this so called 'credit crunch' that I've not rushed into it. I've got a company car at the moment but planning on moving jobs so that'll be going. Plan is to buy a commuting 'barge' such as a couple of year old Passat AND a Lotus for the weekend.
So I'm not in the position to buy right now but really the question was just out of curiosity more than anything.

as with any car purchase, basic things you can do regardless of the media "credit crunch" :
1.go in near the end of a sales quarter (below sales target the pressure is on to make it, over sales target the pressure is on to over achieve and earn more bonus
2.buy ex-stock rather than build to order (quicker sell on their part for revenue recognition)
3.take up some sort of finance (they make good commission on that)
4. dont have a trade in (they have to allow for that in any deal)
5. dont be frightened of bartering, maybe against another car/dealer, make an offer on an ex-stock car you would like - they can only say no
bottom line is, the dealer should will always make money on a sale, but they also will have an certain amount in there to play with...its your job to find out how much

Good man, as long as your working on it. I am doing the other way round. I now trying to work out if I could live with a BMW 118d as a company car. Trouble if it is parked next to the Elise, I know what keys I will picking up each time!
Think Passat & Lotus probably the best combo, The TDI passat's seem to be very frugle and good for load carrying, and putting your extra set of wheels for the track in !

That's kinda what I'm thinking, I've had a brand new car for the last year and once the novelty has worn if it's not really any different to a second hand car, plus I spend time worrying about people scratching/dinging the paint. Theory is that we just get an economical run around with a couple of toys to make life a little more comfortable and then an Elise for the weekends and trips away, best of both worlds Think Passat & Lotus probably the best combo, The TDI passat's seem to be very frugle and good for load carrying, and putting your extra set of wheels for the track in !

Makes a lot of sense. I bought my R a year ago on Sunday. Great time of year to get one. Mine was a year and half old and has a Larini fitted. I now have the 3 year extended warrenty.
Depending on the spec you are looking for, there is some great cars out there.
I have driven a S1 160, S2 S/C, Exige S 240, and 2006 and 07 R. But there R still float's my boat. However I would love a Exige s with the 240 pack, it was great fun on the track.
Right better get some work done, as off to the alps in 4 hours.....
