Hi all
Just bought a 390 SE and the UJ is wrecked,I was pressing out the bearings and I have cracked the bearing carrier on the wheel bearing side :-( (If that makes sense). I know welding cast is difficult anyone managed to weld it successfully? Anyone know where I can get another one?
Any help would be appreciated

No - they were originally modelled on the Jag - as it used the Jag axle but it's just a drive shaft at the end of the day ..

The spline is Ford and no longer available AFAIK.
If the spline is OK the bearing carrier/yoke can be cut off and everything inboard replaced with new/uprated. This is what Proptech did for me at a very reasonable price for cash. Still not sourced the replacement Nylock hub nuts but appropriate torquing and liquid thread lock will suffice along with regular torque checks.

Cheers all proptech came up trumps new drive shaft now fitted.

Next problem.

I need a exhaust centre box I just need a temporary one so that I can move the car in and out of the garage while I work on it and my other toy. I have noticed in the classified someone is breaking a couple of 350s mine is a 390 will the centre box be the same?

Ah just throw it away and put some straight pipe in. hehe

Actually, must go and have a look to see if I've got one on my 400....sure the system is the same as the 390 (my previous tiv). scratchchin

350s seem to have a great variety of exhausts.

Sorry...just making conversation - someone will be along who knows what they're talking about and isn't inebriated. smile

I have a spare old centre box from a 350i that's quite solid, the usual 2 pipes in Y and 2 pipes out Y at the back. Might not have much stuffing inside but it's gas tight.
