Very nice R8 popped up at £69,950 at a main dealer yesterday. Everything other than small, cheap, economical hatchbacks are taking a thump.

Good time to buy something fun though!

The cheaper R8s are all ex-Audi demonstrators apparently - not sure if they were the track cars or not. Don't think dealers were too happy when 15 came on market at once, but like most good deals, you have to know what you're getting. I've just been offered a good trade-in price on R8 so think it's holding up ok for the moment.

Audi are apparently offering discounts of £5K to people who are trying to pull their orders.

yes I heard that from a friend who works for Audi ... it will filter through slowly - let's not forget that the R8 was "the" fashion car to have a few months back - and with the R10 and V12 TDI due .. prices will start to drop more - especially in the current market place.

Are they actually REALLY making a Diesel version?!?!?!?! redface

PAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA!

I thought it was an urban myth / joke!

I don't care how much they claim it to be LeMans derived technology, they will completely destroy their product X-D

It's close to supercar money... It's certainly the supercar-esque market they are aiming for.

Therefore = CONSPICUOUS CONSUMPTION

As said in the other thread - the R8 was 'the' fashion accessory to have for a little while - and it will entirely decimate that in one hit.

+ Man proudly in shiny new V8/10 R8 +

: Person (not even a pleb) at side of road "Nice car - is that Diesel?!" :

+ Man sells R8 instantly! +

If you could have bought a Ferrari or Lambo - would you put up with people asking if it's a Diesel and actually having a point?!

Deeply Uncool.
