I noticed that Gillette have recruited Federer, Tiger, and Henry to sell their new 5 blade fusion razor.

In this, the whole message seems to be 'get rid of your Mach 3 because we have moved on.'

The sportsmen get so upset at the man using the old Mach 3 that they pelt him with balls from their respective specialities.

It is a bit of a market trader trick to say 'Nah mate, that stock of mine there, yes it's for sale, but really, it's st. Buy it if you like but I would rather you tried my new line.' The confidence trick of rubbishing their own product to move you up to a more expensive, later one.

Is there any other record of adverts/companies actually blatantly doing this. It seems a bit of an insult as if 'Yeh, we sold you a lot of crud back then, but hey, we've changed.'

And what do you do?

I hope this is ponderable whilst having a poo. When you have wiped and returned to your desks, please impart your knowledge/ one-liner/ 'knowpinion' here.

They have also stopped selling replacement blades for earlier Gillette razors in packs of 4, instead they now come in packs of 5, but the price seems to have gone up a disproportionate amount.

The renault thing is at least forgivable because the new car is 4WD, therefore has an entirely new ability.

Now unless the gillette fusion's 5 blades can drive me to work, or turn me into a sporting megastar, I see no difference in its purpose. Does it have additional beard/pube capability? Probably not.

Who knows.

Anyway, I am intrigued by "Lanacane Anit-Chafing Gel".

Seen these ads?

Basically, fatties apparently are so fat that their swollen fat body-parts cause injury to their very own selves, merely by moving about.

So they have to "grease themselves up", sort of lubricate themselves, just in order to perambulate in comfort.

I am out on the pull tonight, searching out plump, vulnerable girls. Perhaps I ought to pick up a tub of Lanacane, in case I end up "doing a romance" upon them.

I could carry the tub around with me, same as Tony Manero at the start of Saturday Night Fever.

"What's the tub, Rod?" The cute fattygirls ask.

"Sex grease." I say, deadpan, as I do my "groin-thrust" dance.

I was pondering this last night while chomping on some mini cheddars which are "Now made with real cheese" - what the hell was it made with beforehand???

Have you seen that ad for something that makes your teeth not fall out.

It's got a naked chick in it.

You can see her arse, and I'm sure you can see her pudenda.

I paused it, though, and could see no "crease".

Can anyone clarify whether of not I was actually looking at a real lady's actually fanny?

Otherwise I will "save myself" for a close up of Charlotte Church's lovely round face.

All the very best.

You fool! Can't you see this is a 'performance toiletry'?

They've pushed the envelope.

I test-shave this kit (I'm the Chuck Yeager of razors) and its absolutely top drawer. You wouldn't buy a Focus 1.6 LX if you could buy a Focus 1.6 'Jazz' limited edition would you?

Come on.

How can something be both new and improved...? Surely if it's new it's just that..new.....it can only be one or the other...can't it?..confused

I'm still holding out for the day they invent a razor that holds 200 blades and is moulded to my face, so that I have only to move the handle one-sixteenth of an inch and I'm done.

Come on Gilette, get your skates on!

Mach3 works fine for me. Especially when I can get catering size bags of the blades for peanuts...
It's marketing for you...

My solution was to buy an old safety razor that takes 20p blades and gives a better shave anyway - there's nothing like lathering your face up with a badger hair brush in the morning!

Gillette is one of the biggest rip offs around, seeing this trio advertising for them just underscores how much is spent on marketing.

The only people I know who still use them, buy their replacement blades in the US, as the prices here are a joke.

I like the washing powder ones where they compare the cleaning power of their new stuff which makes your whites look like Hammonds teeth, to their old product. Now in the previous adverts for the old product the whites always come out amazingly bright and white, but when they are compared to the new stuff they seem to make your clothes go a bit grey and off white, like Clarksons teeth. How come no one noticed before when they were buying the old stuff that it is sh*t?
