Why Not Have a For Sale Section on the Forum?
Discussion
I know we have the classifieds but, let's be honest, it's full of scammers and people who never actually use the forum. So why not have a section on here where more established members can sell their cars and parts, or at least link to their classifieds? To dissuade scammers, you could have a qualifying criteria, such as having to make 100 posts before you can start a topic.
Alternatively, why not allow people to post for sale topics in the relevant marque sections? Just a thought.

i think allowing this to be done in the marque forums may lead to an influx of ads which would overshadow the actual useful threads
i think the idea of how many posts you've made, or how long you have contributed to PH is a good one to allow you to post specifically in a new section. could say you need to either be a member for 12months min, or have made 500 posts?
that way you're not discriminating against those people who actually work during the day and dont post so much, but are actually a PH'er!
(and on that note- id best get back to work!)

This is an argument that has been mentioned before and we are doing a review of the whole classifieds system, the effectiveness of the new premium adverts, improvements to reduce scammers, and any other benefits we can give members in the section very soon.
We welcome any suggestions, including this one, that we will take into the meeting.

I've also had another idea. Just as the ad links to your profile, why not the pother way round? Below your post and mouth count you could have a 'my car for sale' button or something
No need, word soon gets around the forums if a member has something particularly interesting for sale.Negative Creep said:

Better still, just add another tab in the memebers profile alongside "about me" "forums" "my cars" "reviews" etc. you could have a "my adverts" Shirley not too hard to rig up?sniff diesel said:

This is a good idea - it's always confused me why the classifieds are totally detached from the forums. Why do I have to log in separately to classifieds using different credentials and then view my ads separately to the rest of my contributions to the site? For sales forii (?) are useless IMHO, when compared to the classifieds they look crap and there's enough rubbish in the forum as it is without the need for people to start posting on threads to advertise their car for sale.
All that needs to be done is some work on the classifieds to make them more reliable and able to cock slap autotrader.
