OK.

I have inherited a very nice crash helmet. It's an Arai, but I don't knwo who has worn it before me.

So I'd like to clean the foamy inside of it.

How might I do this, oh knowledgeable ones?

Try helmet cleaner. Available in all good motorcycle accessory shops and horsey tack shops.

IS that like a wind-up for clueless newbies?

No not at all. Have a scan through a Ride, Bike, Horse & Hound, or get yourself down to Hein Gerrich (however you spell that?)

Yeah, you REALLY should not EVER buy a second hand helmet of any description. Unless you don't value your head.

Would recommend Febreeze...works better than most helmet "sanitizers" and you dont need to remove the lining!

Bad effort having a second hand helmet though...never going to protect you like a new one would.

I'd want to wear a helmet too if I had to drive a sub 10k purple tiptronic 996.

Look on the Arai site for a 5* dealer, they will be able to give your helmet a proper service.

It's OK. Someone tried to rob the pub down the road wearing it.

Pub owner asked me if I wanted it. It's got some blood on it, put it that way..... I don't think the robbers came off very well thus why the police aren't involved. The East End element dealt with it.

I am off to the 'Ring next weekend and will just use it as a bit of extra noggin protection (going in an AMG 63 Merc so I expect that the worst it will have to withstand is smacking against a window if me or my mate bin it......)

It's a very expensive one - bad night for the robbers ha ha ha!! Unlucky!!!

Are you sure it didn't come from one of the ram raiders who croaked driving an MX-5 at Apex corner?

Arai are usually fibreglass which has a 7yr life span. Plastic, 'carbon composite' etc have a round 5. Keep it out of sunlight.

TBH mate, I'd bin it. You can't see if it's damaged inside...could smash into a million pieces with the smallest of impacts.

Surely for £0 it's better than nothing. I wont' be using it on a bike, only in an AMG Merc.... To be honest I'd have not bothered weraing one unless I'd had the gift!
