Damn banks!

O/h did some online banking earlier this evening bills etc and noticed there was a discrepency of £1 between the two balances showing on screen, calculator comes out and everything adds up but no sign of how this £1 has vanished, telephoned customer service and they are about as usefull as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest! they said a transaction was made via the debit card at 06.30am yesterday morning of a £1(while o/h was fast asleep) but it wasn't completed, so apparently the pound is 'floating' at the moment and to wait for the next statement to come through and check that as the bank couldn't tell where the transaction was made. O/h hangs up and then tells me, I tell her to telephone the bank bank immediately and get them to cancel her debit card and to issue another, she asks why and I say there is a very good chance your account will be empty in the next few days if you don't!. Have heard how cards are cloned then a small amount say £1 is put through to check the card is working then small amounts are syphoned off or even one large withdrawel or transaction.
A little over cautious you think?
