I've Just Discovered That......
Discussion
........I have at least one half brother/sister who I had no idea about until earlier today.
Actually, it was about 3pm today. In a conversation with my adoptive mum and dad the fact just slipped out.
I'm nearly 49 and I although of course there was a possibility of something like that could have happened, the fact that my adoptive parents have known about it for 47 years and have not thought it appropriate to tell me has, to put it mildly, f
ked my head somewhat.
I also learnt that my birth mother was/is Irish (yay! for some reason but I don't know quite why I feel that way yet) and I was born when she was 20.
So, here I am a little stunned. I was going to tell my teenaged daughter about it this evening but I just couldn't find the words.
It's weird, I may have sat next to, crossed in the street, talked to shagged!
a sibling and not known about it.
I can't believe that for nigh on 50 years my parents kept this from me.
I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight.

Good luck to you. We went through a bit of a time when we went looking for Mrs. Tunkus real family. In the end, it was the best thing we did. She now knows where she comes from. Good luck and good travelling. Actually, it was about 3pm today. In a conversation with my adoptive mum and dad the fact just slipped out.

Just don't get your expectations up of what your family may be.
Is it too much to hope that they own an enormous estate in Ireland overlooking a private hunting ground with a fishing loch named after the family. And that they travel by private jet to their island in the Carribean for Christmas and the New Year?

Are we talking about your natural parents children?
If so, doesn't that make them full brother / sister, rather than 'half'?
No, half siblings. My natural father fIf so, doesn't that make them full brother / sister, rather than 'half'?
ked off when he found out my mum was pregnant. She came over to London in 1959 to have the baby. A woman from a private adoption service took her in. The girl subsequently had me, I was adopted and the girl married the son of the woman who took her in.My natural mother then fell pregnant to her new husband.

k, I just read what I've written and it's struck me that they're real people who should be in my life.My head really is stuffed.

A client of mine, some years ago, was about to make medical history until a savvy doctor asked some questions. Specifically, my client needed a bone marrow transplant and they they ckecked his next of kin for matches - of which there were none. In desparation his missus had her bone marrow checked for a match - and it was perfect. The odds of that were millions to one - and they even considered telling the papers. That was until the doctor asked about how they met and their general background. They were, apparently, neighbours from the day they were born. As such, the likely explanation was that the mother of 'neighbour A' was, how do I put this, 'quite friendly' with the father of 'neighbour B'. As such, it seems that my client had married his half sister not knowing they were related! Now that that's a mind-job!!!
