The LCD module is a Varitronix MGLS24064-99C (MGLS24064-DSTN-TM-12-LED04):

The replacement LCD module can be also from Varitronix: MGLS24064-02C (MGLS24064-G-STD2-LED03).
The connectors (Tyco Electronics / AMP: 20 way straight header + 3 way connector) need to be soldered into the new module though.

Thanks, just wanted to confirm i had the correct part number, which i have!

I've been in discussions with the agents for Varitronix and i can currently purchase the LCD module (new not reconditioned) for £61.44, need to add VAT to that & shipping. The agent will deal with me direct if i can get 10 people to purchase the LCD. I can also arrange to have the connectors fitted. I guestimate the final cost to be sub £100 to the individual with the unit shipped to them.

I'm not making any money out of this. However, i would like to ask that if anybody joins in the purchase that you consider making a dontation to Chirsite Hospital

If you're interested in obtaining the LCD at this price can you post below. I'll let this run for a few days before confirming we can go ahead.

hmmm, fixed mine last year with the alternative display - couldn't find a supplier for the original one.

Might be worth having the correct one as a spare

So will this just be a case of buying the new module and just unclipping the old and relacing with the new?

Yes, its the same part as the original. I'll fit the two required connectors, so it should be a simple swap to perform.

I have a replacement pod in the car at the moment and still have the old one with the line through it sitting on the shelf, you can put me down for two so I can put them both right and sell one on.

Just to make sure, does this screen have the black background and orange text like the original? Reason I ask is I replaced my screen but it looks like a normal lcd screen (a sort of greeny greyish background and black text)which is rubbish a low temperature, I have resorted to swapping the old one back in winter time so I can see it.
My new screen came from Farnell and has a part no: MGLS24064-STD2-LED03 I see your part number has an extra G, maybe this is the difference.

I remembered today that I got a screen before, I got it from Farnells it has the part number
MGLS 24064 - STD2 - LED03: LCD MODULE

Is this the same module or incorrect?

In my communication with the distributor i have asked for MGLS24064-DSTN-TM-12-LED04 which is the part number that appears on the display in konrad pdf

As i dont know the breakdown of the part number from -TM-12-LED04 i have emailed the distributor to confirm the display colour but i would be suprised if it is different from the original part.

This is the same guide I followed, which is where I got the part number from. Konrad was very helpful but under 15 DegC the screen appears blank.
It would interesting to see which screen Varitronix send you, maybe Farnell sent me the wrong one! If its like the original I’ll take two!

Here's a link to the Varitronix VL-FS-MGLS24064-99C Data Sheet. On page 4 it states "Yellow-Green LED04 backlight".

I'll take one too, as the replacement started to fade again (being too cold on startup yesterday).

I'm guessing that providing you are within the operating range of the LCD, then the issue will be with the voltage the TVR electronics are feeding to pin 4 of the LCD module - this controls the LCD contrast.

Ive had an email back from the distributor -

"its Yellow/Green backlight, so Yellow/Green writing on Black background, but its definitely the one we have been selling to TVR "

He has offered me a sample, which i will fit when i get it and take photos so people can see.

I wont get to my car until tomorrow to check the colour, but from memory i wouldnt have called it yellow/green! If this concerns anybody, i will hold off finalising the order until i have fitted the sample and forwarded pictures to those concerned.

Can those interested let me know if they want to proceed to wait?

So just to clarify, it is the same unit that they supplied TVR, so does that mean they could fail again?
