Ahhhh.....What Tyres are right? Do I worry about ZR?!
Discussion
Just bought some 18 inch spiders which need new rear tyres.
Current ones are Eagle F1 245/40 ZR 18 Gs d3
I can only find Y rated (upto 186mph) - does this matter? I believe the ZR rating is old and now covered by Y?
Best, what I think are suitable tyres, are on blackcircles....

Before I press 'buy' can someone confirm that these are the correct tyres? Aware that for lightweight cars they need to be correct ones!
If they are not the right ones can someone point me in the right direction?

Right I have just read every 'tyres' search on the Tuscan Forum and still confused.
Can I put 255/35/18 onto my 'normal' 18 inch spiders? Is this recommended to get more rubber on the floor? According to mytuscan.co.uk the actual wheel sizes are the same.
Seems to be a massive price variation for what appears to be the same tyre (£115 upto £200) - is there anything specific I should be looking for if I'm going for Eagle F1's?
If it makes any difference I have 235/40 ZR 18 91Y on the front.
Help appreciated as my Tuscan is presently sat on my drive as an MOT fail for tyres whilst its finally topless TVR weather!!

You might try calling Micheldever tyres, http://www.micheldever.co.uk/ they have, in my experience always been the cheapest for decent tyres.
There web site is V new, so bare with it!
cheers

This year I got 235/40 at front (better ride than 35) and 255/35 at rear fitted to mine - Eagle F1 Assymetrics. These were around £700 fitted. Andy of APM in Liphook provided and fitted them. Great tyres.
Hey Tuscan Six, that's highly interesting. Is it still street legal (in the UK) to change to /40 (versus /35 in the papers), or do you need to have it checked and approved officially ?More interesting: How does the bigger diameter + more air suspension change the driving behaviour and/or "comfort" ? Any influence on speed (reality versus dashboard?)?
