How much for a website?
Discussion
Just doing rough calulations on how much I need to set up a business and one thing that I have no idea about are websites.
All I would want is a basic site, 7 pages of info and one form that can be filled out and submitted.
I'd appreciate a very rough idea of what it would cost to buy the domain, have the site built and maintained, etc.
Many thanks.

Depends if you want an amateurish looking, bland informational thing or a custom designed bespoke work of art.
£25 to the limits you set (to quote Porsche).
You'd be wise to get some help - pay £400 to £800 quid depending. But insist that you will be able to make minor updates yourself.
If you don't care about the site - it's merely a formality to you - then the cheapest s
t will do. Be aware - if you expect people to find you via the 'net this is no good. If people find you elsewhere and merely need to be able to check you out on-line? That's a different matter..and a few quid will see you right.
Decide what you expect from your web-site. Then ask for a ballpark on here. Then get a quote.

Hi mate
like another poster said the problem uis not the site design but the search engine placement and tbh a lot of sites are too fussy when all they need to be is simple and clear cut. i've done a couple using moonfruit and they look ok (wont out them on here as it may be seen to be adverstising)
I can however put you in contact with someone who is a great designer and brilliant at seo (search engine optimization) and he is very reasonable.
If you are interested then let me know

you can allways diy. not as hard as you think, will take a bit of time reading it up if its a basic site.
Also depends on what you want it for? On line selling, self promotional etc.
We did our own web site self promotional/info and although looking a bit dated now, has worked well for the last 5 years or so, user friendly, fast and we are listed mostly top 1 -5 in Yahoo, MSN and top 9 google + sponsored ads for them.
You can read up on the tips on optomising the search engines etc, and it can be fun experimenting and building up your own knowledge.
