Something on the radio encouraged me to try this the other day, so I bought 4 cans of Tetlys and a couple of 2L bottles of lemonade. It's probably about 30 years since I last had a shandy (when it was a legitimate "soft" drink for kids) and I have been most impressed. Cold beer really isn't thirst quenching and soft drinks are too sweet for me, but this is great.

I've been erecting all day in the back garden (a fence) and 2 pints of shandy with lunch went down a treat, cooled me down, but not a lot to piss out as I was sweating like a pig, erections have that effct on me it seems.

Gentlemen, I commend Shandy to you as a much maligned thirst quenching beverage for the warmer months - and warmth inducing activities.

Have to agree, in certain circumstances shandy does hit the spot. Much better than drinking crap cola or pricey J20 when stuck with driving to the pub, and considerably less hazardous than beer when operating power tools biggrin

No - shandy is great when you fanvcy a drink but want to keep the alcohol content to a minimum.

Better than most low alcohol ste to be honest.

shandy, brilliant drink, nothing poove-ish about it at all.

Unless you're a southerner and then it's just another indicator of your overall poove-ishness.

not that there is anything remotely wrong with poove-ism ..being a southerner on the other hand...

A few weeks ago somewhere in France, I had a 'Monaco', lager shandy with grenadine, it was pink. How gay is that?

I notice you live in the south.

This explains your new found love of shandy.

not quite as bad as a demi peche but getting there. Sometimes the locals in the bar i worked in would even drink a demi peche panaché. Half a shandy with peach cordial in it..... hmm

Often have a lager shandy if I'm in the pub on a warm afternoon, maybe grabbing some grub. I find it very refreshing. You can have two pints of shandy for the same alcohol as a pint (obviously) so it's great if you want a drink but are maybe driving later on that night or whatever, where 2 pints would be pushing it.

You can keep your Tetley's pish though biggrin Bitter sucks the big fat one!

Bitter shandy is the only one true shandy.

Lager shandy is for southern poofs.

wink Well, chances are, I'm further north than you, so that'd make you a southern poof hehe I'd rather drink my own piss than drink Tetleys. Now, a nice pint of heavy (80/- ale) shandy would hit the spot, but it's next to impossible to mix flat ale with fizzy lemonade without making a right old mess and losing half of it

To be fair, you're Scottish, the only country in the world where Special Brew is brought out for celebrations as a 'special treat' instead of Tennants......

Actually the best shandy is made with bitter and ginger beer, much nicer than lemonade
