I'm looking for a kit car club I can join in the Tamworth area. I've not seen anything in the local area but I guess there must be something in north Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham etc..

Any ideas?

I think that you might need to approach this in a different way as I am not sure that there are any kit car clubs in the midlands. What car do you have or what cars are you considering? From this the owners club of that brand might be able to point you towards a meeting.

I know that there is a Westfield and Ginetta meeting plus a number of Caterham meetings

I'm looking at 7 type cars. Westfield, Tiger MK Indy etc. For the moment looking to have a close look at different manufacturers and hopefully a ride out in bike and car engined cars.

Westfield are IN the Midlands themselves so surely there is something around here?? :O

Caterham and Westfield are the two main 7 type cars. Caterham is the true 7 linage from the original Lotus 7 and their owners club is called the Lotus 7 Club.

But Westfield also build a very good car, so it depends on your budget and how close yo want to be to the original 7.

There are other 7 type cars but Caterham and Westfield would be in my opinion the best built and hold their value better. Caterhams I would say hold there value beter than a Westfield, but you will pay more for one anyway.

I have had both a Westfield and 2x Caterhams.

As for bike engined cars, these tend to be more track only because the engines scream at higher revs and don't tend to make for such a good road car. I would suggest to call the contacts in the local area meetings and see if they have anyone with a bike engineered version of the car that atends there meeting.

There are not that many Bike engined Caterhams because it was never really an official version of a Caterham and was built out side of Caterham by an independent. I am not sure what the score is on this one with a westfield.

You could ask the question also on the Caterham & Westfield sections of the Piston Heads forum as well.

Hope that is of help.

Hi,

If you want a ride in a BEC, you are probably better of posting your request on:

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/

I am sure there will be someone nearby who will be willing to oblige.

Otherwise, get yourself up to MK or MAC#1 on a Saturday morning, there will usually be someone around who would be happy to take you out.

A large proportion of Westfields are bike engined, so a Westfield meet would be a good place to get a direct comparison. Mainly they are Megablade, Megabird and Megabusa.
