Yep, track day cover is very expensive, sometimes worth working it into your existing policy to allow for a couple per year or something.

Failing that, make sure you have a towing eye, and bung the marshalls £100 to tow it a mile from the circuit (dragging if necessary) ?

Managed to get a quote for the day at £185.

It's a car club track day, so do you think it's worth it, or is everyone likely to be enjoying a bit of a blat rather than everyones a raving looner type driving?

If you take it out you probably wont need it and think you've wasted your money. If you dont take it out and you have a prang you'll regret it!

If you enjoy the day and get the bug, have a think about changing insurers come renewal time for one (Mannigs etc) that covers for TDs

Ditto - although note that the excess has now gone up to £1000 from £750 (yup I've just renewed).

Track days are strange. I've done some and felt totally comfortable with everyone around me, then done others and felt uncomfortable so stopped and took photos instead. Nothing to do with insurance at the end of the day but self preservation for me and especially my car.

Anyone done a TVR Car Club Track Day? This one's sponsored by TVRCARPARTS and they are testing the t350 that they have prepared. Somebody Edwards is the driver if I remember rightly...

I think I'll go for the insurance and change my insurer when its' due in a few weeks.

I'd be effing gutted if I wrote her off without any insurance!

I know exactly what you mean, the last one I did at Brands Hatch some of the Jap car boys were being really aggressive, the organizer told me some of the "Time Attack" series boys were using it as a test session, however they were driving like it was an actual race! I wanted to spend as much time as possible out on track improving my technique, but after a couple of incidents of people trying to overtake in corners and being forced off the racing line by people a couple of inches from my rear bumper I lost my nerve a bit I must say.

Ironically the Gumpert Apollo and BMW touring car that were taking people for passenger rides were not at all threatening as they knew their stuff and would just slip through the slower traffic (like me) with no drama.
