You've probably listened to my engine in the 'cherry bomb exhaust' thread, which is still around here...it sounds sweet! All the problems, mostly electrical i had in the last months: disappeared...BUT today happened this:

It was a glorious sunny day, i took the griffith at lunch time and drove her for about 50 miles on the highway at about 50/60 MPH...slowly and relaxed (it doesnt happen very often...), then i did drive about 10 miles more in light traffic...then suddenly the engine started to misfire, slow down, nearly stop if i kept throttle lightly...flooring the throttle it went again fast...

I returned on the motorway and this time i went back home pretty fast, when i got home the 'engine' seemed cured...and up to now it runs smooth and strong like on the small vid i posted here...

Could it be the plugs?

Or is it just another gremlin attack???confused

I think the ECU runs open loop above around 3k revs. So if its running ok under throttle but not otherwise then I would suggest something to do with the ECU's closed loop mode. So check lambda sensors for a start. I'm not sure what else the standard Lucas system takes reference from under closed loop other than that - AFM/speed sensor??

I had a similar problem last year, cutting out whilst driving momentarily and then fixing its' self... got progressivly worse over time .....

changed leads/coil/rotor arm at the same time to avoid continual frustration..... all sorted and going great

I had this problem and it was cured by cleaning the carbon/dirt off the spark plug leads.

I've changed already coil, distributor, plugs, 'clean' up the ecu loom, etc etc...the problem was cured totally, also, it kept the idle perfectly...!!

Then y'day happened what happened...but now it seems 'cured' again...are these the famous 'gremlins'?? They really drive me crazy..banghead

I had a stuttering engine which turned out to be a fault in the fuseboard, also caused the car to turn off all electrics when going down hill!
