Right, i had the windows down tonight, and no music on, and I can constantly hear a wushwushwushwushwush sound coming from both (believed front) wheels as if I have the brakes on a bit. i also noticed that when on a slope and I remove the handbrake, I dont roll back like I would expect. What could be wrong here? It really does sound like the pads are scraping the side of the disk, but i this was the case I would be going through pads like they are going out of fashion right?

Also, when turning right, from the front left wheel, I get a more metalllic shing, shing, shing, shing sound, this is slower than the wheels are rotating and loud enough for me to with the windows up.

occasionally, when braking, you can hear squealing from the front left wheel, almost certainly caused by something rubber, but we are talking slow braking to a stop, nothing dramatic, I thought it could be the tyres scraping the arch, but ts not low enough to do so

Any ideas? Thanks for reading, its really winding me up, Im currently buying a house, and the last thing I need to do is throw money at the car!

Sounds like a sticky caliper / piston. Jack the car up and see if the wheels turn freely....

Well they turn, only when pressure is applied, should I be able to spin them? And if this were the cause, would turning make a difference?

I'd expect them to turn relatively feely; maybe a slight scraping. If you need to put a turn them firmly to get them to move, then I would say they are binding.

Would taking them apart, a good clean and re-build solve the problem then or will it require replacement parts?

That what I would do first, before spending ££££ (althought it might be worth getting a service kit; slide pins etc. if appropriate for you car as they can cause sticking when they corrode).

Ill get on that once (if) it stops raining. Noticed last night that when its scraping if I brake the noise changes, sounds like there is a lot more pressure on whatever is scraping
