XKR 20inch tyres

Big expense time!
Need to replace the front tyres (oem pzero) soon, has anyone tried anything else other then Pzero?

I'm sure the new generation of tyres are better than the Pzero directional?
anyone tried these?

Vredestein ULTRAC SESSANTA (rear tyres not available in the 285/30)
Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX
Goodyear EAGLE F1 Asymmetric
Michelin Pilot SPORT PS2 (more expensive than Pzero!)

any other options?

I have the dunlop SP sport Maxx on mine, these used to be the standard tyres, got them for around 140 quid each at my wee local tyre place.

I have been using Toyo Proxis T1-R's for the last two years on my XKR.

I great tyre, holds the road with no sudden breakaway that I had before and shifts the water.

My XKR is pushing out over 600 BHP now ( + 50% over standard )and they still cope with that.


If they keep me on the black stuff they must be good.

any comments on wear rate compared to Pzeros?

i have been pleased with the Pzero wear rate considering the Wife has a tendency to take corners quite hard.

That was the surprise.

The Toyo were cheeper than the Pzero, felt better roadholding, yet last longer

Are the toyos any noisier ?
Ran them on TVR and found them very good but concerned that they may be noisy on convertible XKR

I have a Coupe, but I haven't found them any noisier

Possibly a bad set mate, on my second set now and find them superb. Voted best tyre by Evo Magazine, Autocar as well as Tyre Rack + various others. If your after grip get a set of Kumho V70a onto it But don't expect much grip in the wet

Got 20" Dunlop Sports Maxx on the front and Pirellis on the back of my 2001 XKR. The Dunlops are much quieter and cause less tramlining than the Pirellis.

I'll be changing from Pzeros to Dunlop Sport Maxx all round in the next week or so.
