How much difference do we think this will make then readers?

To be honest I think they'd be best just letting the natural market correction occur (which probably means my place will fall more than I'd like it to - but hey, I've made provision for that eventuality so obviously it's only those that didn't exercise such caution who will get any help!). But then, they gotta buy their 'core target electorate' votes somehow I guess!

It's just throwing good money after bad, the crash is happening regardless, we could all do with just getting it over and done with.

Bit bloody pointless, you can barely get a studio flat for that price round here.

More vote buying from Labour scum.

It won't work either. Confidence is too low, and the people this is aimed at will be too scared that they won't make any money on the proerty and won't be able to take Courtenay and Britney to Disneyworld this year.

Am i correct in thinking that its not abolished but its just a "holiday" - i.e u have to pay the stamp duty when the holiday period ends..??

ETA: Labour are absolutely clueless

Everyone I think - a proper waste of time in reality - a £50k increase in the threshold is next to nothing, can't see it kickstarting a thing. In reality as said, it's just shutting the door on an idea that was out there and had helped stall the market whilst people may have held off, they needed to tie that one off and decided they didn't want to do anything.

more crap from the most inconsistent government in my lifetime.

What about the stamp duty I shelled out 5 years ago. Can I have it back please?

Yes it's a holiday period, so yes it will be reintroduced, but not backdated to transactions carried out within that period. Least that's how I am reading it.

Unless the value goes up, in which case the basterds will proberly want the % of the current value, rather than what you paid.

Seriously starting to think Cameron would stand at least a chance of getting a vote of no confidence through.

Would this automatically trigger a general election?

Although being in government right now would be something of a poison chalice I guess.

Labia know they can't win, so they're deliberately fooking it up as badly as possible so that when the Tories get it it will be hard times.

i could be majorly wrong on this. But a vote of no confidence would only be for the labour party for their leader (brown). pretty sure that doesnt trigger a general election.

politics a-level is a tad rusty

A theory I have often put forward myself - the only thing that makes me doubt it now is that they are fooking it up SO badly that the Tories could get 2 terms at the very least (second one under Boris preferably - just for the hell of it!).

And how will the lost revenue be made up (more tax on those earning more than 100K, windfall tax)?
