Audi S8 - owner's experiences.

Hi,

I guess the title says it all, I'm going to be upgrading the SLK within the next month, and was all set to stick with Mercedes, looking at CL500s, but there is an outside chance that an S8 could be coming my way if the financials work out.

I'm interested in owner's experiences, around running costs (not fuel obviously) and reliability servicing etc.

That, and could I really pull off a Larry from Ronin....?

Been in the same boat and decided against it.

If you think the problems with the SVX gearboxes are bad, it is nothing to the A8/S8 of the Ronin shape.

Also gobble up front wishbones.

I would stick with the A8 4.2, make sure that it has had a gearbox fluid replacement in the last 12-18 months and a full service history with receipts.

I did not think the S8 offered enough over the A8 to warrant the price increase/insurance but to each their own.

Well, someone had taken SVX!!

Still gutted I had to sell mine when we moved over.

Mine is going to be up for sale when I get the transmission replaced (shameless plug).

It was lovely to drive, and I do miss it (currently dry stored), be good to get back on the road....
