Hi,

I have a 53 plate X-Type, and have just had someone decide to embed his Rover into the back of it! frown

The damage isn't too bad, but it will need a new bumper. Currently the rear bumper has body colour inserts, and I was going to take the opportunity to change these for the chrome ones. However, I'm now wondering if I could have the 2008 model rear bumper fitted instead, as these have integrated parking sensors, instead of the horrible plastic strip at the bottom of the bumper.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Has the body been changed as part of the update?

Thanks,

Tony

I think its certainly possible. As far as I know there are no "sheet metal" changes to the latest X's.

BTW the "bumper" you see is actually only a very thin plastic moulding. Take this off & there's a bloody great aluminium bar behind it.

I've had mine off to fit my towbar.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jag have made it a tad awkward to upgrade your X to the new 2008 style. May require a bit of extra work. Troble os it will look real weird having only the rear bumper, it really needs the side moudlings and front bumper, but then you'd need the grille too. You can pick up bumper covers from ebay v cheap. £100 to spray it I'd expect.
