xbox live connection?

Just connected the 360 to a speedtouch modem with a wire and it seems to be fine on the network test, but then on the dashboard you still have the option to connect to xbox live. When you click this it sort of thinks about it for a bit then goes back to the same screen, and doesn't come up with a couldn't connect message or anything. Any ideas people? Desperate to re-ignite my love affair with COD4.....

eg when you test your xbox live comnnection it seems to work ok, but on the dash it still asks you to connect to xbox live. Please, someone with more technical ability than me (So anyone) must have an idea what is wrong here. NEED COD4 online!!

Hmm, thats a strange one.

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps it thinks your account has expired?

Does the problem persist if you disconnect/reconnect the HD?

This might sound silly, but have you tried resetting the router.

Whenever mine stops working I try doing this and it normally fixes it first time.

The internet works fine. When I sign in on the xbox it tells me which friends of mine are online etc but there are no games available. On COD4 it all appears fine until you try and search for a game. It comes up with the screen saying 'Downloading game settings' then the screen goes black and reappears with the same but in black and white. And stays like that.

On Forza it all appears normal, but says there are no games available when you search for one. Can't handle the stress anymore.

Doesn't sound too good matey!

Mines started doing that with CoD then shortly after it kept freezing up. Apparently this was caused by a buggered motherboard.

Needless to say, it eventualy died it's death and I now am on my third console!
