Seriously - what the f*ck is up with ParcelForce?

Right. We ordered something over the 'net, and paid a couple of quid (more's the pity) for next-day delivery, which happened to be via ParcelForce. Unsurprisingly, given that lots of people work during... er... working hours, we were out when they tried to deliver it. The box on the little form that landed on the mat had 'redeliver' ticked. Years of education kicked in: "Oh dear", thinks I, "that wouldn't be useful - as we'll be working again".

So we try to phone the depot, and are defeated, surprisingly not by incompetent phone operators, but by a barrage of static.

So we try their website.

Track the parcel (having had to dig out the tracking number from an old email, as the highly efficient post operative couldn't be arsed to write it on the form) - yup, it's at a depot near where I work. Great - convenient to pick up tomorrow evening! smile

So... select the 'collect from depot' option... fill in the details, and am then asked when I want to pick it up. The soonest option? F*cking Thursday! It's already at their f*cking depot, but it will take them 36 hours to arrange for me pick it up from there? banghead

Fine, whatever, I want my new gadget... so I decide to have it delivered to the local Post Office, for the princely sum of £1. Fill in the same details, and am again asked when I want to pick it up. The soonest option this time? F*cking Friday! The Post Office in question is only 400 yards from my bloody house! banghead

So, very simply, how the f*ck is anyone who works during the f*cking working week meant to get a f*cking parcel from Parcel-f*cking-Force? What a load of useless, pointless, ill-thought-out f*ck-scapage. What the f*ck do you have to do in this f*cking country to find someone, somewhere, who will do what's f*cking sensible and give some good customer service? They make CityLink look good, the useless f*cking w*nkers. furiousfuriousfuriousfurious

Better than Amtrak though, they went into administration last week and my goods that I had ordered were delivered by them, except they were stuck at their warehouse for a week!

Hmmm I'd rate that a 7/10. Needed a good funny one liner to really up it a bit more.

That's my usual trick, but I started a new job yesterday, and haven't had a chance to ingratiate myself with the post-room yet! smile

Ah don't worry, it's not as if we're short on delivery firms to complain about laugh

errr..why did you pay for next day delivery to your home when you knew you'd be out at work?

Having said that, I was expecting something to be delivered by DHL today. I work from home and have been in all day.
It didn't arrive and tracking says "THE RECEIVER REQUESTED A HOLD FOR A FUTURE DELIVERY DATE." which is a complete lie. I called UPS and they said the depot manager would call me within an hour. He/she didn't.

I know I've told this story/complaint a few times about Parcelforce on here a few times but it's the reason we stopped using them when we sold mail order.

They once delivered a package to a customer complete with a length of steel tubing imbedded in the side - stuck out about 2 feet. Looked to have come from a roll cage like they use in supermarkets, presumably at the Parcelforce warehouse. They then refused to accept that they had anything to do with it and blamed 'improper packaging'.

I 'spose I expected them to have a sensible system allowing me to pick it up later. smile

Or to leave it behind the wheelie bin, as the PO usually do rolleyes

Could always leave a great big note as to where you want it assuming your front door is well away from any riff raff strolling by?

Seems to be (along with mobile networks) an industry that every punter has bad experiences of every firm...

We've had a card before with "parcel in outbuilding" in almost-joined-up-writing.
Ok... we don't have outbuildings... lateral thinking req'd...
Parcel finally found in kids playhouse ---> from front door, right 20 feet, left 30 feet down side of house, through bolted gate into back garden, down steps x 4, along path for 20 feet, access playhouse and deposit parcel inside.
