Optimax + Octane Booster

I run the Griff on a mix of Optimax and Millers Octane Plus.

Is there any benefit to be had by exceeding the RON past 98 ?

I think she idles better...

Am I causing any detriment to the engine ?

Simple answer is 'no' as engine can't make any use of the increased RON. You are however doing damage to your wallet.

Optimax does not need octane booster, but if you use ordinary unleaded this probably a good precaution against the dreaded pinking.

I would be carefull. I belive that the chemistry involved can be different (i.e the detergent/boosters in optimax versus the additive) and may interact.

I ran my tuned up fireblade for two years on octane booster with no problem (+uleaded). 2 weeks after changing to Optimax I knackered the engine. coincidence maybe, but now I stick to one thing or other. (especially as theres no real benefit.)

There should be a benefit; check out the Millers site. You may need a slight adjustment on timing for maximum benefit. Optimax and Millers are advertised to be used together.
