Monaro owners - check your windscreen now
Discussion
Guys (and gals)
just had the windscreen replaced on my CV8 and the fitter was absolutely amazed to find that the screen basically wasn't glued in properly.
It appeared to be held in mostly by friction and the outer weather seal.
The guy was able to lift it clear from the body using only a few firm pushes and no need for his special seal cutter!
He told me if the car had been in an accident like that...well, who knows what would've happened.
He's now sealed and glued it in place properly - it seems the glue that was there wasn't applied properly at the factory. He reckoned it hadn't cured properly before the screen had been fitted on.
Maybe consider having your cars checked now guys, just in case.

Had a new screen in already so it should have been done properly that time?
In theory yes.
I mentioned to the Autoglass chappy that these cars seem prone to water leaks and he said yes, again it's down to not allowing the glue to cure properly before seals/glass etc is fitted.
In other words, shite build quality.
Excuse the thread hijack. I've had two stone chip repair jobs since I picked up the RO in Feb. Monday morning I picked up my 3rd (my Ro seems to be a stone magnet) and it has caused a 10" crack across my screen from the tax disc holder towards the drivers side. It's going to have to be replaced.
Is the Monaro (CV8) windscreen a routine replacement, or am I going to have to wait for Autoglass to get one in?
