Anyone else excited about this? Just completed Shadow of Chernobyl and it's one of the best games I've ever played! Should be out on Friday biggrin

Glad you posted this. Beat me to it.

Amazon emailed me last night to say my copy had shipped.

I am currently playing my way through the original game with a mod called Oblivion Lost. Have a google for it as it gives the whole game a working over.

It adds back some of the content that the original game had removed prior to launch like;

  • Use of some vehicles
  • Proper (and very scary) dark nights when all sorts of nasties seem to come out to play
  • The need to rest and sleep (and you'll want to, to avoid the dark nights)
  • The 'Blowout'
  • Rebalanced weapons

I'll have a look at that. Any idea if I'd need to restart, though? (Probably, I'm guessing!)

Will this work with the steam download version. When I updated to Vista I lost my Stalker save so may replay using this mod.

Yeah it is mate, I hated it for ages, I bought it from a guy at work as he ordered 2 by mistake, without really knowing what it was. Can't stop bloody playing it now!

It's really replayable, I've completed it once, but I've restarted maybe about 20 times as there's so many different ways of doing things!

Not sure mate, just try it!

Mods are easy to remove, if you go into your STALKER folder after installing the mod you'll see that there's a /gamedata folder, you remove that and the mod is uninstalled.

Great, I get it, then I get a problem with my comp that I can't fix, frown

The 5 minutes I saw of it in full DX10 goodness was stunning though.

I started that game on Saturday and the early difficulty of it was winding me up, what with the hopeless accuracy of the weapons and the fact that the bandits could see and shoot you through 8ft reeds!

I'm warming to it now, since acquiring decent weapondry.

It does need the sleep feature that OL used, though.

F**king hell, only just got round to playing this again, I got about 30 minutes into it before my computer died, then when I fixed it I got pissed off and stopped playing, it's SO bloody hard!

I'm playing again on Novice now, and am still finding that pretty challenging, did anyone here finish it?

I had to uninstall it as it was so buggy frown

I loved the first stalker and put up with the bugs, but the faults in the new game were terrible and i got sick of it in the end.

Clear Skies? I played it through on the Medium setting and it was incredibly hard at the end.

You've made me want to dig out OL again.

Does anybody know if there is an OL equivalent for Clear Skies?
