Sky+ to Virgin Media V+
Discussion
I'm thinking of switching from Sky to Virgin and their V+ box.
Price wise it's a good deal for me, only £5 more than I currently pay for my 20mb Broadband and I can drop Sky+ and I get HD and all their on demand stuff... was going to drop Sky movies from our current package and not into sports - so lack thereof on the VM side isn't an issue.
I've heard the V+ box is a bit slow and unreliable, does anyone have any experience? I was told the same before I took out Sky+ and it's been excellent for 2 years, but currently spending a bit more on BB + TV than I want to but I'm a channel flicker (as the wife will testify
) and a slow box will prob frustrate me (+her!).
I don't want/can't have a virgin phone line or ADSL on my existing BT line for a couple of reasons so this seems like an excellent deal for me.

We've had V+ for about 15 months.
Picture quality is very good, limited HD channels (only BBC HD) but the on demand service works very well for both renting films and watching catch up tv/music on demand (free IIRC with the XL package).
We are on our 2nd box though after an update stopped it working correctly (it wouldn't record) but to give virgin their due they came out, ran some tests (which got it working) but still replaced the box with a new one.
Highly recommended and very easy to use. Added bonus over sky is that you can record two channels and watch/pause a 3rd.

I'd also be interested to hear people's views/experiences between the two as i've just moved into a new gaff and currently trying to work out which package to go for (to inc phone/BB & TV). Currently swaying towards V+ although I understand if you have to whatever reason end up dealing with their customer services dept your in for a rocky road
Most people I know are on Sky so pretty aware what that service seems to be like, so really would be handy to have other info handy hints or stuff to be aware of regarding Virgin ?

We moved to virgin media and i have to admit im very dissapointed theres only 1 HD channel compared to many on sky. It can be quite slow loading up as well if you turn it off at the socket. My only other concern is that we took out a package that gave us the phone, tv and internet but we havent received a bill to date for the amount they said we would be paying per month. The customer service on the phone is also quite appauling. I used to like watching the football on a weekend but they want a fortune per month for sky sports to be added on.
