Hello All,

My first foray into this area of PH but i'm after some advice!

I'm (hopefully) about to come out of my company car and change jobs.

This means i have to buy something of my own for the first time in a fair few years!

I've got about 6k whcih from what i can see will get me an Evo IV and in come cases a V.

At this price and this model what sort of things do I need to be looking for?

Any general hints and tips about this age and spec welcome.

Thanks in advance

Dan

I would recommend you stretch to the Evo V as the IV is the worst made IMO.

Save yourself a load of bother and go to www.lancerregister.com and download the buyers guide there. It will tell you literally everything you'll want to know.

There is also a running cost calculator which is pretty accurate.

Thanks Laurence, I've tested the running cost calculater and I can cope with whats its suggesting. i've downloaded the guide and will be giving it a good read.

Thanks for the help.

Not much really, just the legendary crank walk which isn't as prolific as non-evo owners would like you to believe.

Look at both and go for the best condition and best cared for example you can, look in the MLR for sale section and you should find some good ones.

There are a lot of owners who use them as a second car and cherish them, this is what i would be looking for

cheers

AS Chris says, crank walk is something you hear about a lot.

Also, it was Mitsubishi's first go at AYC and it doesn't work nearly as well as the newer implementations.

The 5 comes with Brembo brakes, more power, better AYC, more torque, and IMO is just a better car all round.

Just my opinion, but I have had Evos for the past 4 years.

Thanks again guys.

So this "crank walk" - bad? not as bad as made out? how on earth do you spot it?

and price wise am i correct in thinking a iv will set be back anything (on average) from about 4k - 6k

and a V probably 5.5k upwards?
