Right, thinking of taking some time off (about 6-7 weeks) and think a round the world ticket might be best.

Done most of Aus, been to Singapore, been to parts of Thailand & Cambodia, done quite a few countries in Europe.

Want to go to South America and might 'pop in' to see a couple who live in Dallas at christmas.

Where do you folks think I should also go and see ?? China/Japan, New Z, Canada ?? What do you reckon to make it a truely memorable trip ??

Fly to the US, then down to Brazil, do the South American stuff and then fly direct from Chile or Argentina to NZ. Visit a few Pacific Islands and then head off to Japan/China.

6-7 weeks is not enough to do NZ, imo. We spent 3 months and could have done with another month at least. You could do bits but you'd have to go back and do the bits you've missed.

HTH hehe

I agree, 6-7 weeks aint that long really. What about doing it in two phases?. I think maybe south america and somewhere else over that end of the world. Also, get a book called "The Earth" by Cube Books, you wont be stuck for ideas.

3 or 4 days in Beijing, I found it a an unpleasant place to actually be but on reflection a great experience.

There are LOADS of historical places to visit there but if you plan it right you can do 2 or 3 in a day because you don't really have to spend hours upon hours at them all.

I would do:

London
Tokyo
(Bali if you can fit it in)
New Zealand (South Island)
Fiji
Hawaii
Dallas
Peru
(Brazil if you can fit it in)
Argentina
South Africa - Cape Town
Egypt
London

I would definitely put Japan and China on there, as well as India and South America.
