My window control box gave up the ghost last week and no amount of trying to reset the box would work so i got a refurbed box from Racing Green (very helpful folk, when i plugged it in the windows went up fully(supposed to do this i think??) but none of the door switches or boot would operate. I opened the driver door using the pull handle and once inside i found i could operate both windows and doors from inside and out but if i left the windows down and pressed the button on the alarm fob to lock the car which automatically used to put up the windows but it doesnt now. I found the alarm flashes the indicators but doesnt lock/unlock the car. It seems to me like the alarm and control box arent speaking to each other.
I have a Lazerline alarm on the car with the standard imobiliser, does the alarm need to be synched to the control box??
I know there are 2 different types of control boxes but after searching on here it was said both should work fine(mines an early model), Racing Green said theres 2 different types depending on what model alarm was fitted to the car.
Does some nice person living near fife fancy meeting up so i can try there box to see if the one i received is mabye a bit dodgy??

Oh and the interior light stays on all the time after i use the pull handle to enter the car!!

Hi,

Did you discover why your last box died? These boxes usually die to some other problem/short/bust component somewhere in the wiring.

I would test all the wires in the four connectors at the control box to make sure all readings were as expected before testing other boxes.

Out of interest what year is your replacement box? I had a control box die on me that seemed to be caused by the boot actuator. After replacing the actuator and getting a new 97 box nothing worked. I sennt the 97 box back and got my hands on a 2002 (I think, or it could be 2004) box and everything worked fine.

Tim.

The box knackered up after the battery went flat and it was jump started!! Read on here that that can wipe the memory in the chip frown New box seems to be working fine apart from the syncing with the box itself!!
The replacment box doest have a 'year' sticker, it just says T2(the alarm model on the car it was from). My one had 2002 sticker on it altho the car is a 96/7
