Odometer unit

Hi All

Hopefully a quick question:

Had my stack unit changed they other day and a new one fitted, as old one went under warranty with a reputable dealer. The milage on the new odometer is now reading 000033 and is working but the garage said they werent able to put the figure back to its original milage (which is over 20000 more) and they will just have to write the old milage in my service book and I'll have to live with it.

Has anyone else had this problem is there a fix? or am I stuck with it?

You may find any 9 year old kid will be able to do it, or there are often ads in 'Exchange And Mart' from laptop carrying people who, apparently, will put any mileage you want on your odometer.......doubt if you will get a receipt....

For only 2,000 miles I'd leave it and use it as a sell point of honesty, should you come to sell the car.

I'd be impressed if an owner admitted that to me, and it really isn't a mileage amount which will swing a deal away from you, methinks.

Oh, hang on...20,000 more? Can understand more that you wish to clean it up.

Happened to mine. I was told nothing could be done - dealer wrote in service book and "has it in their records". Not quite as bad for ne as milage was in the 3K to 4K range. Having said that I do so few miles (I live outside the country) that my 56 plate will probably have only 3k or so on it in a couple of years time !!

I figured that would be the case, hopefully it won't matter to any potential buyers, which i guess is my main worry.
