While doing my weekly spit and polish routine I've just found a big wet patch in the rear nearside footwell! Any Idea where it's coming from and what to do about it?

Well Ive been working on mine with gutter "glue" today

Its reduced the amount of water over time had the problem for the 9 months I've had it and I'm sure before

don't bother putting it into a dealer mine spent 3 weeks there although they did replace carpet and wiring

seems to be mainly coming through what I would call the side skirt

you can probably hear it in the body when you brake takes normally a couple of days to drain out but in this weather!!!!! hence me having another go at it

helps cornering a bit

The problem is generally the plastic membrane in the door not sealing, many cars were fixed under warranty. I think it was just a case removing the door card and resealing the membrane.

I still not sure its not flook but mine has sorted itslf out. All I did was relace the vauxhall kickplate on the door sill with HSV ones and miraculosly all dampness has disappeared. Been fine for weeks now. Fingers crossed!!!

My passenger door occasionally let in a dribble or two depending on how it was parked. This morning however my front passenger footwell was well and truely swimming frown.

Had the door seal replaced a while back so I'm suspecting door membrane. The bottom of the door seal had water in the groove and it has spilled over the sill at the front of the door aperture. Looking at the seal it doesn't look like it's leaking in from elsewhere so it has to be the door itself I think.

What's the best stuff to use to reseal it?

Sounds like the drain vents in the bottom of the doors and sills are blocked for you chaps!?

mine's had the seal "attended to" under warranty 3 times in the last year, and it looks like the last one has sorted it.
to test, open the door and look at the bottom of the door card whilst someone carefully sprays a hose onto outside of the window; takes about 30 secs, then you wil see a trickle if the membrane is gone.
Someone else suggested dusting the sill with talkum powder to show up the leak, but that takes some cleaning up afterwards, and stinks!

Where are the drain holes in the doors? I have hole blindness!

Edit: Scrap that, I've found them. Just poking the tip of my finger in revealed a lot of gunk so chances are they are blocked. Will give them a good poke with some pipe cleaners or cotton buds.
I guess I'll have to go on a long drive with the temp set high and the a/c on to dry it out properly.

Check the two rubber grommets at the bottom of each door, one at the front and one at the rear.I removed them and put them to one side. The water can then run straight out.I did not replace them. The inside of the door also dries out quicker. I took both door cards off, rust proofed the inside then used silicone sealant on the plastic membrane. Yes it took a while but it worked..

Well today I whipped off the door cards to have a look. I was expecting to find a tiny hole but in actual fact the membrane had come away from the seal completely in a line about 5 inches long!

Half a small tube of silicone sealant later and it should be nice and watertight. There were a couple of small leaks on the drivers side too. I did however forget to reconnect the light in the drivers side door. Doh!

The drains holes in the bottom of the sills on mine (04 CV8) had some rubber grommets with flaps to allow the water to drain out.
These grommets will easily block especially if you had the inside of the sills injected with waxoly or another waxy rust proofer as this will stick the flap closed as it thickens up.
As the drains are located under the plastic sill extensions, and there was little chance of water getting in that way I decided to remove the grommets from mine.
