i fitted a new pair of bilstein shocks on the rear of my cerb last week, easy enough job and got rid of the horrid banging from one corner, hight adjustment is via a series of groves around the lower part which houses a fine ring which the lower spring platform seats over. They were factory set on the highest ring, the car now sits 30-40mm higher than before, making it tale happy and steering heavier.Question: how much does one grove drop the car, so as to save me time with trial and error? any body?.Ta.Baz.

The following is not on a Cerb,so i'm not sure how helpful it will be,but as no one else has replied i thought i wouldsmileWhen i put my shocks in to Billstein for a refurb they cut height adjusting grooves into them for me,and did this at 5mm spacings as if it were their std spec,ie i never had to request this spacing. Therefore you may have 5mm spacings, and 5 grooves in total?I'm not sure if 5mm lower on the shock would actually transfer directly to the ride height, though, but it does sound like youd be better off starting from the other end of the grooves to get closer to your original ride height that you liked.

Thanks for the feedback Mike, you are right about the 5 groves and 5mm ish spaceing.i feel that one grove on the shock is likely to turnout double at the height change.I shall have to get out the spring clamps and give it a try. Cheers

Also if they're new springs they're likely to settle after a month or two by (guess) 15-20mm. So you could save yourself some work by leaving the car a little high.

I have to replace my fronts at least. Can you tell me why you went Bilstein rather than Gaz, Ohlins or others ??

I went with Billies because they made them as original equipment, i also had them on previous cars and found them to be a great balance of handling and compfort.ontop of that TVR made a car and spent lots on chassis design and suspension, if there is a knob to twist...I'm gonna twist it wobble not aways for the better.

So why are Bilsteins so unpopular? This is almost the only mention of them.
