Having worked out that the clutch housing is leaking on my 1100 CS, it seems to be coming from where this housing bolts on:

The question is what is behind there? Some kind of release bearing/slave cylinder arrangement? I assume there is a gasket? Is it full of bits that'll boing off all over the place if I take it off?

I am hoping to take the cover off. Clean the mating surfaces and put back together with a new gasket. Job done.

Anyone know about it?

Thanks
Bert

The slave cylinder is just a piston with a seal, like a brake caliper. There is also a push rod that goes into the engine casing to operate the clutch, there is a small oil seal on this.

Looks safe to take apart then! Thanks Rob.

I think the leak arrived after my rebuild last year. Any idea what the gasket is called? I should really get a manual for the engine. Anyone got one?

Hi Bert

I changed this gasket (spacer) last year and I bought a couple of spares.

The part no. is 92026-1263 and is called "spacer, clutch"

Hope that helps

Just been looking at a workshop manual and now I'm confused. It seems to be that the clutch fluid is contained in the slave cylinder. If there is clutch fluid leaking, then does that mean the seal gone around the slave cylinder piston?

Yes Bert, that's exactly what it means.
Oh thanks Bert!

Having taken it apart it's leaking around the piston. Where's the best place to get Kawasaki parts? Other than a dealer I guess?

Thanks
Bert
