Is it worth anything to anybody apart from direct family history?

Someone I know needs to raise some dosh and he's got shed loads of old masonic gear from medals to robes, from books to event cards going back to the early 1900's.

Just interested really - it's good stuff.

United Grand Lodge of England

They might be able to advise if it's got any value...

There's a shop opposite the Grand Lodge that sells Masonic memoriablia. Not sure whether they would buy it (I assume their goods are donated), but it can't hurt to check.

OP, depending where you are you might want to check out the province. You should be able to google this, or check with Grand Lodge at Great Queen Street. (The Spooks building).

I'm betting that if you speak to Great Queen Street, unless you have something that is special or unique, then they will want you to donate them for their museum, rather than sell them.

If any of the clobber relates to a particular lodge that is still in existence, you might sell them back for further use? (but again you might be expected to donate the stuff. )

THis from the Grand Lodge Website (http://www.ugle.org.uk/ugle/embroidery.htm)

"Second-hand Regalia

Mrs Fernandes would be pleased to receive unwanted second-hand regalia. Please think of sending such regalia to her rather than disposing of it in any other way! The more regalia she receives, the more she can refurbish to sell at a price which will suit Freemasons' pockets."

Suggests they may be a mrket, no idea where though.

It may belong to a Lodge, so it's best to check before selling it on.

When my Dad died Some of the regalia was his, and some belonged to the Lodge, which I returned to them.
