Hi all,

I want to send some Whisky to a friend in Sweden as a thankyou gift but my understanding is that upon recieval of said gift the lovely Swedish customs people will have applied their taxes and he will be landed with a nice big bill.

I wondered if there was a way around this, perhaps paying the duty myself before posting it, or whether the likelihood is that it wouldn't get picked up by customs anyway...

Cheers for your help

J

I could be wrong here but, as Sweden is in the EU, if you have bought the alcohol here in the UK then you will have already paid duty on it, therefore they can't charge it again as you are sending it from one EU country to another.

But don't take my word for it.
