hi all firstly id like to say hi to all and to introduce myself as a new cerbie owner which is turning out to be probably the best car i have ever owned.after much deliberation and reconcideration i took the plunge and bought a sp6 i heared all the horror stories and put it off for many years but after stumbeling on this fantastic sight and reading your stories and experiences my mind was made up.i got mine from wales which is a good 3 and a half hours from me (mansfield notts.) and after driving there in the worst rain since the god and noah fiascoe there she was in gleaming blue soaking wet and parked on a main road, this cant be good i thought and it wasn't it got worse she wouldn't start her owner just kept pushing the start button till it broke then flatened the battery he then called someone to bring a booster down and even after a good 20 mins. still no joy. just when all hope was lost i asked if i could have a go so he got out and slamed the door shut. i walked up to her running my hand over her long front wing ,this being the first time i touched her made me feel week at the knees my hand carried on to the base of her apost when i sliped it under her mirror and fondeled for her button after a couple of prods bingo out it popped(look i know this is starting to sound like a low budget porno but stay with me on this)i got inside and no word of a lie the second i and deactivated the imobiliser turned the ignition she burst into life ,he'd jammed the start button and now would not shut off.that was the final straw for me i knew i had to have it.with the engine still running i managed to free the start button bid wales goodbye and started my jurney home.needless to say she got me home no problem and after getting the diagnostics on her i found that it wasn't that bad yes the odd sensor was down and every reading was off the scale but nothing too major.ordered the bits from clevor trevor and after just 2 hours work this morning everything is perfect she is purring like a kitten as goes like stink.which brings me to my question if anyone can help i have a boot release button near the gearstick which dosent work but now when i lock the car it starts to flash green is this normal? thanks in advance.

its not a boot release, its an internal door lock. when pressed, it should stay solid green and the buttons on the door mirrors should stop working. and yes, the flashing is normal, well, at least on mine it is.
hope you cleaned yourself up by now
What he said.hope you cleaned yourself up by now
'Central locking' button. Flashes when the immobiliser is on.
Got a bit lost in your post there.
I'm amazed that you have run diagnostics already, but you mention issues with a few sensors? What was actually wrong with her, what did you do and why wouldn't it start? They normally fire up very quickly.
May be worth getting her checked out at an Indy for any underlying issues.
Welcome none the less and good to see another 6 owner.

Which sensors were down and what settings were out?
initially when she would not start in wales there was a very strong smell of fuel, she was definately flooding which led me to believe it was maybe the lambdas, then on the drive home i could tell she was running very rich. once home and dry i did some research and found that if the water temp sensor is down which mine was the car would sometimes not start if it thought its engine was too hot the diagnostics proved this ,the lambdas were ok afr123 &456 where a fult throtle was iratic450rpm to 1200rpm fueling was out as for some electrics ,now im not by any means a great mechanic but i felt totaly comfortable working on her without any major problems and what suprised me was how easy these cars are to work on i realy dont now what i was fearing all this time . my next step is to build a garage stroke workshop and get the body off and try to improve on any thing i can like fittings wirring and whatever else i can as i have truly fallen in love with this car,i now know why tvr has such a great following and why you guys are so passionate about your cars.i look forward to meeting as many of you as i can at shows, meets and trackdays to pick your brains and share tips and advice.once again thanks for your responses. Andy.
