Following on from the valve amp thread...

I'm thinking of getting a new guitar amp - doesn't need to be huuge, as I only play at home. I was thinking of the marshall MG10 or MG15. Is there anything else out there for the same sort of cash that is as good.

I am mostly ruining songs of a rock/metal variety, if that helps!!!

Cheers,

I read the ultimate guitar forum occasionally and their opinion of the mg series is pretty poor and they're often praising the microcube so that may be worth a go.

I'd recommend trying the Fender Champion 600. It's a 5W valve amp and is £120 according to the Guitar Village site. As much as I like Marshall I wouldn't get a MG. If you don't mind modelling amps the Line 6 Spider IIIs are meant to be quite good, but I've never tried one. Your best bet is to play with a few and see what you like. smile

I would recommend ebay and find a good fabric covered sessionette 75.
Best non valve valve amp ever and LOUD!

My son has a Marshall MG10, doesn't sound too bad (to me), it was cheap and never gone wrong in 3 years.

Ive got a Harley Benton GA5 from Thomann.
5w valve combo based on (clone of) the Epi valve junior.
Very pleased with it - lovely clean bluesy tone and combined with my cheapo ovedrive can get any sort of tone you want.
Bargain at just under £70 too.
