Bilt and hamber car detailing kit, worth it?
Discussion
Was thinking of giving Bilt and Hamber auto balm stuff a go on a faded red beemer of mine I'm trying to get up to scratch. Was about to order and then I noticed this special offer: http://www.bilthamber.com/bilthamber-special-offer...
Comes with the autobalm, as well as autoclay, several other car shampoo products and other things, apparently £75 odd when all bought seperately, and £50 for the offer. Is the rest of the stuff worth having or should I just buy the auto balm and carry on using the products I already have? I use Turtlewax shampoo, Megs scratch X and Autoglym Super Resin currently.

Their autowash (car shampoo) is excellent, a little goes a long way and it does help remove surface dirt.
Their clay is possibly the best around at the moment and uses water as a lubricant....just kepe a bucket of warm water handy to keep the clay flexible.
Not so sure yet about the autoablm when compared with 3M, Autoglym SRP etc. Need to do a 50/50 on the car to see if it is actually any good.
Overall I would say yes the deal is worth it.

AW - brilliant pH neutral shampooComes with the autobalm, as well as autoclay, several other car shampoo products and other things, apparently £75 odd when all bought seperately, and £50 for the offer. AC - ask for the soft version, more so at this time of year. Worth the extra £1 if they charge you for it.
AB - chemical cleaners included, so whilst not removing swirls or scratches, the fillers will mask them, and the cleaners remove some of the dead (oxidised) paint - presuming it's singlestage, and not faded beneath the clearcoat. If it is, it's a respray job.
SHD - excellent multi-functional all purpose cleaner. Does insect remains removal, wheel cleaning, pre-wash cleaning, heavy grime cleaning from the engine bay, oil spillage removal from the driveway/floor, etc. Just don't use it to clean granite worktops at anything more than 1% strength!
Best kit for £50 - get some decent microfibres for drying and buffing, and you're sorted.
Cheers for the advice chaps. After seeing what was managed on a faded Volvo with auto balm: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... I thought it would be worth a try. I'm getting ok results with coloured T cut, but it just doesn't last
Good debate about the clay test. The guy who did the Auto Express test joins in.
