Changing brake pads (sorry, numpty question)

Need to change the pads on my bike (Deore equipped), can someone remind me how this is done? Sure I did it last time, but can't remember what's involved!

Pull the old ones out, back off all the adjustment, clean all the bits of grease/muck/oil, put the new ones in, pull the brake lever and while pulled tighten the pads up.

With shimano deore (hydraulic?) you need to un bend the "R" clip that holds them in, pull it out with a pair of pliers. Then pull the pads and the spring out with some small nose pliers, clean the inserts and then fit the new pads into the spring. Push the package back in as it was, re fit the clip and make sure you re-bend it.
