Someone was very lucky...

Bloody lucky indeed. Remarkably level headed Dad as well - I think if my kid disappeared down a drain my first thoughts would be something like "f
k f
k f
k what the f
k" - I imagine "she must have been sucked down to the river, I'll go fish her out" probably wouldn't even enter my mind.

Especially as they weren't even local - how did he even know wherethe drain went?

Maybe we're not getting the whole story? Perhaps he'd been shoving her down the drain and letting her pop out the other end all afternoon, then his missus turned up and caught him. "Honestly love, she just got sucked down by accident"
Laughin at Timmy35 - sounds like the kind of thing my dad would do!Glad to hear nobody was hurt!!
She needs to get her euro-millions slip filled in pronto.
RIP the dog though, poor mutt. That's exactly the sort of thing my mental springer spaniel would do, i.e. water, he jumps in; 1ft drop or 200ft drop, it don't matter...woof.
To say she's been lucky is the understatment of the century....
