high mileage ferraris......
Discussion
Ferraris should be bought on condition and care rather than mileage. A higher than average miler will cause loads less hassle than a lower than average miler, but high milers carry a stigma which puts people off. All the better for those who know the truth and want to spend less buying a car and less running it.
I disagree with the last post. The problem is not that people want to spend less on mainting cars they drive, it usuall is the other way around whereby they are maintained, but need less unecessary maintenace and consequently cost less that way. If a car does 2000 miles in four years, but has had four annual serives and a cam belt service isn't that very expensive running? It is also likely to run up serious problems through none use. Wheras a car doing say 40000 in that period will require similar servicing but adjusted for tyres brakes etc.
I think the problem is people are terrified to use them by the previous mentality. If you buy it drive it and enjoy it. If the only thing that concers you is residual value then be real you arnt buying a car to drive but to look at! I would be more suspicious of the 02 plate with 9000 miles on its second clutch and set of tyres! That digital adjustment is amazing! Even saw it being done openly at a ferrari concourse!
Appreciate this will be contraversial, but is the flip side of the last post! People who do little mileages are possibly those who cant afforad or maintain! discuss!

will drive well no doubt, but difficult to sell on, however buy cheap, sell very cheap
Agree 100%. Typically, the high milegae cars that I have had tend to drive better as they have seen regular use and maintenance. These cars don't like to stand around as seals tend to harden, condensation issues etc, etc. HOWEVER, selling on was a nightmare due to public perception of high mileage exotic cars. For many the purchase will be a dream one and the thought of a leggy car puts them off. Unfortunately. You mean you've heard Bebs' car? What? In real life? Actually driving? Cool!
Paul, I think you and Mitch mean the same thing. He wasn't saying that people buying a car with mileage on "want" to spend less on running, but they probably will "need' to spend less, as the car may well be in better running condition

very good posts. I have seen some interesting 348s/355s with high mileage but was wondering whether they are worth the risk. Maybe any savings in price could then end up being spent on repairs (and more)
What do you consider to be high mileage? Mine has around 39,000 miles now and is in better mechanical condition and drives much better than when it had 25,000 miles on the clock. All depends on what's been done to the car, how often and how pampering previous owners have been.
Besides, many if not most Ferarri's are clocked anyway.

Agree. I've done 85,000 miles in mine now. Its been well looked after no expense spared at every service. Its important to keep on top of things like bushes, pads, discs etc. But when you do, a high milage car often drives much much better than a garage queen.I've been in a lot of 360s over the years and and not many of them felt as tight as mine.
Personally I would rather buy a car that has been driven - providing it has been looked after properly and I guess that is why I have had VERY few problems with mine other than wear and tear. In fact. I can't think of a single thing that has been replaced that wasn't down to wear/tear..

Wow! That's quite a bold statement. What is it based on / how do you back that up?
[Please note - I am not arguing with you - it is a straight question!]

Anyhow, did you enjoy Nerja Brian? Did you visit the world famous Burriana Beach ... and, more importantly, did you find the towels?
