From today's Milton Keynes Citizen

'BLOW-torch wielding vandals have stolen two Bletchley
speed cameras in what police fear is an outbreak of
vigilante-style direct action against the devices.'

Sgt Bilko said:
"These people are mindless morons who will be caught," he warned. "We've got more money than them and if they damage the speed cameras we will replace them immediately."

Or, to put it more precisely, "We could spend all our money on solving burglaries, murders, muggings and all sorts of other crimes, but we're going to piss it away on more cameras. Which will get vandalised. Dribble blither waffle."

I think Bletchley has only got 2 anyway

Quality....they've probably been sold to Cash Converters for beer money.

Just noticed the link to the news item, the one in Fenny Stratford was positioned behind a large road sign. That's been on peoples minds for ages. So about time that went.

It saddens me to see these cameras being abused in this way.

It's not funny, it is just not right.

Stop it.

I'm interested to know who pays for damaged or stolen cameras? Is out of the revenue or are they insured?

Who insures them if they are insured? Premiums must be sky high!

4 truvelo cameras on the leighton buzzard bypass are mysteriously be driven into - two are so far going to be taking pictures at an interesting angle! Two to go it would seem (the best thing is is that the're not yet functional!)

And he vowed to catch those responsible for the attacks on the Bletchley cameras placed specifically on known accident blackspots

Does that mean that there are cameras that are not placed on known accident blackspots?
