Yesterday after a trip to Cambridge I enjoyed some of the A roads on my return. Love "pushing on" between Saffron Walden and Thaxted 
Got onto the A127 minutes from home and my alternator seized.
Lots of burning smell from the belt that was wizzing round with the alternator pully stopped.
Now split decision time, home was 3 miles away, Leven 2 miles and at this time I didn't know what the problem was so, made it to Leven watching the dials more than the road.
Got to Leven at 4pm. Simon there had more than enough cars to be getting on with but had a new alternator and belt on the shelf and fitted them there and then. After a cup of tea and chat 5.30pm I was on my way again.
