A friend of mine is looking to sell his Audi A4 2.5 TDI Avant Quattro Sport (180 bhp version). Its a 2003 on an '03' plate, 49k miles, Silver, Auto, full leather, Bose stereo and pretty much every extra going except sat nav.

I know the market is stagnant but it seems like a hard one to price. He's reckoning on £10,495 but I reckon thats a bit steep. Can anyone recommend a price to help him get it shifted before 22nd Sept (when his company car arrives.)

Depending on the condition your friend has a very rare car with only 1 available at a Audi dealer and only about 20 on autotrader some of which are very cheap but also have high mileage.

As long as it's a clean car with full service history including the Quattro oil system i think he is about spot on with the money. It's also very important to make the car stand out from the other adverts the way it's describbed and the quality of the pictures. I would suggest trying the car for a week at that amount then reduce it to 9995 and he should have no problem at all.

Hope this helps

Yes you do it's called Haldex and according to Audi the oil should be changed every 20k and the filter every 40k this also can affect the warranty if not done.

Has the A4 got Haldex transmission then? I thought the A4q had a proper quattro system, not that Mickey Mouse Haldex effort. I only tend to change quattro gearbox oil at around the 100,000 mark.

If it has got Haldex it's coming off my shopping list, again.

Only the TT and A3 (golfs) have the haldex system, its 90% front wheel drive all the time, except when the front wheels are starting to spin, that it puts a quite a bit more to the rear. And its oil is every 20K and oil + filter every 40K as stated above.

The A4 is proper quattro and I'm pretty sure its oil is never changed, and there isnt a service interval, (i've worked at an audi centre for nearly 3 years, we've never done one), Oh and its not the main stealer cutting corners before someone posts that. The items that required doing are flagged up, according to millage and time, when the service sheet is generated.

I'm after an RS4 [with comfort seats]....if you've got one and can offer a decent cost-to-change figure against my A3, you'll have a sale.

doesn't bode well, i am putting my
03 plate A4 2.5 tdi quattro sport avant up for next week, i was hoping to punt it at £10k and expect a bit less... I am in the north of scotland so it does tend to be a wee bit dearer up here. They are pretty rare as such as the only other similar one i can find been watching for months, prices wander wildly from 13k to 8k.

ebony black,
Grey Leather/alcantara
Bose everything soundwise
parking radar (factory)
cruise control (factory)
aluminium pack
17 in Avus wheels (factory)

87k full history
mint!

its just too small for three kids in the back... but otherwise its a good car. need MORE space!

Is a £9500 target unrealistic?

Any colour [except Misano Red or Sprint Blue], must have comfort seats, not bothered about sat nav (must be priced accordingly).

Budget isn't an issue- the actual deal is. The cost-to-change must reflect that both my px and the potential purchase are 'both behind book'...
