New to this great site. recently acquired a 2002 SL55 with only 20k on the clock. Absolutely love it apart form a recent O/S/R strut leak which I have since found is a common fault. Other fault is inner rim of tyres wearing down to less than 1.6mm tread when outside is 5-6mm. was told by one person that this is a common fault due to 'performance wheel alignment' while others have said wheel alignment is out. Will get the alignment checked but would still appreciate any feedback on whether others have experienced the same problem.

Also computer is telliong me when I unlock teh car that there is 'reduced brake effect. visit workshop' merc dealer cant find any fault with SBC. any ideas!

Thanks for any help. looking forward to some good gassing!

Hi FS, Welcome to the SL world.
I have not heard of uneven wear on SL tyres front or back, however all wheels are fully adjustable and at the same time check for previous accident damage just in case.I would also advise Mich' pilot sport tyres.
Reduced brake effect warning when 1st started may well be a problem with brake pressurising system which means the pump or relay may need to be looked at.
If you are using a MB dealer all the fault codes are easily checked.

Mark.
