I'm moving out of my rented house on October 1, and I've just got an email from the landlady saying that there is a "checkout charge" of £80+VAT. I have never heard of this before, and have asked if there is anything in my contract about it. Has anyone else encountered this?

What do I do when they mysteriously find something wrong with the flat and take £94 off my deposit?

Have you not got a copy of your Tenancy agreement?

It's probably to pay for someone from the agency to come out and check the property over and take keys back from you. Nothing to do with condition and deposits.

yes, I do at home and I will be checking it later. I was just shocked when the email came through as it is not something I have ever heard of before.
